Miryam asked me about the NSF session this morning and I thought perhaps I should share this information with you so that you can plan ahead for next year’s round.
Here are some basic facts as of now:
1. The deadline for political science dissertation improvement grant is Jan 15.
2. You need a reference letter from your advisor.
3. You better have an IRB approval (you can still apply without one but it is required for the award).
4. Your advisor should have an NSF account.
How do you apply?
You cannot initiate the process on your own! Schedule a session with Laurie S. Rosenberg (.1045) at OSU Research Foundation (ideally in November) to start the application process. She will create an NSF account for you and walk you through every step. My session today took about two hours. She is a really knowledgeable and thorough person. It is a good idea to organize a joint session with other political science students so that she doesn’t have to repeat herself.
